Show your support at May 18 City Council meeting

At 6:30 p.m. the City Council/Redevelopment Agency will go into closed session to discuss the future of the theater. Before closed session, however, there will be a chance for the community to comment. Would you like to see the city, which owns the theater, find an operator who will run the theater as a homey, pizza cinema? Do you have other thoughts? Now is the time to speak.

Following the closed session, probably within a half hour or so, the council is likely to report upon what they decided during closed session, unless no decision was made.

The council has repeatedly voiced its support for maintaining a theater at the Cerrito.

The matter is not on the agenda of the open session of the City Council-Redevelopment Agency, which begins at 7:30 p.m. But the council may discuss the results of the closed session at the start of the meeting.

Also, the public can comment on the theater during Item 3 of the agenda, Oral Communications from the Public.

About 60 members of the public attended the last City Council meeting in which the theater was discussed. This strong show of support for the theater clearly impressed the council with its importance to the community.

Let’s remind them again.

Meeting Location
El Cerrito City Hall
10890 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito
