This Ain’t No Mouse Music

On September 18, 2014 the Cerrito Theater showed the new documentary “This Ain’t No Mouse Music,” about Chris Strachwitz and the record label he founded, Arhoolie Records. The event started with a New-Orleans-style parade to the theater from Down Home Music, the record store associated with Arhoolie. The parade was led by a band calling itself the “Saint Strachwitz Benevolent Society Orkestr of El Cerrito.” Chris Strachwitz was there along with the filmmakers Chris Simon and Maureen Gosling. The event was a benefit for the Arhoolie Foundation, which documents, preserves, presents and disseminates authentic traditional and regional vernacular music.
