Enjoy some laughs with “Office Space” at the Cerrito on Thursday, March 14, at 7:00.
In a stroke of genius, writer-director Mike Judge (better known as the creator of “Beavis and Butthead”, “King of the Hill,” and “Silicon Valley”) created a hilarious satire of the corporate world—which resonates with anyone who has held a soul-crushing job.
Peter Gibbons (played by Ron Livingston) is a cubicle slave, imprisoned at a soulless software company, Initech, where the workers are either automatons or emotionally dysfunctional, including one who is stapler-obsessed. They’re presided over by an unctuous phony, played by Gary Cole, a symbol of everything that’s wrong with the corporate world.
Jennifer Aniston humorously plays a woman with whom Peter gets involved—who has a similarly soul-crushing job at the nearby chain restaurant.
Through a bizarre twist of fate, Peter undergoes a personality shift, leading to a revenge plot with his two work buddies.
