Isn’t it time to play hooky? Join Ferris Bueller at the Cerrito on Thursday, April 13 at 9:30!
Were you ever a teenager? Then you can probably relate to Ferris Bueller, as played by Matthew Broderick, who lives a charmed life. He’s a popular high senior who is well-liked and can get away with anything. One spring day, he decides that rather than go to school, it would be fun to visit the top spots in Chicago. So aided by his beautiful girlfriend Sloane (played by Mia Sara) , his best friend Cameron (played by Alan Ruck), and a red Ferrari, they have a magical day.
Ferris Bueller could easily have seemed like an obnoxious jerk, but as critic Roger Ebert said, “the film’s heart is in the right place, and ‘Ferris Bueller’ is slight, whimsical and sweet.”
Director John Hughes demonstrated so ably that he truly understands the teenage world in previous movies, such as “The Breakfast Club,” “Pretty in Pink,” and “Sixteen Candles.”.
“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” plays once only on Thursday, April 13 at 9:30 p.m. All seats are $9.00. Moviegoers are strongly advised to buy advance tickets at the box office or online, as many shows sell out. Arriving early is a good idea, in order to choose your seat and also order delicious food and wine or beer.
