“When Harry Met Sally” at the Cerrito on Thursday, February 9 at 9:30

Let Harry and Sally add sparkle to your Valentine’s at the Cerrito on Thursday, February 9 at 9:30!

“When Harry Met Sally” asks the eternal question: Can men and women be friends?

This stylish comedy is rated number 23 on AFI’s 100 Funniest American Movies Of All Time, not surprising given its glittering credentials. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan sparkle in an Oscar-nominated screenplay by Nora Ephron. Crystal and Ryan get able comic support from their bickering best friends, played by Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby.

Rob Reiner (“This is Spinal Tap”) directs, and gives his mother a unique gift. Playing a bystander in a restaurant scene, Estelle Reiner originates a line that has been quoted countless times, to inevitable laughter.

Reiner also uses a framing device that enriches the story, showing short interviews with actual elderly couples who talk of the early days of their relationships.

“When Harry Met Sally” plays once only on Thursday, February 9 at 9:30 p.m. All seats are $9.00. Moviegoers are strongly advised to buy advance tickets at the box office or online, as many shows sell out. Arriving early is a good idea, in order to choose your seat and also order delicious food and wine or beer.
