“Ghostbusters” (1984) at the Cerrito, Thursday, April 14, at 9:30 p.m.

Get paranormal with the Ghostbusters on Thursday, April 14, at 9:30.

It’s inspirational when big-budget sci-fi meets comedy shtick in “Ghostbusters,” starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Sigourney Weaver.

Three university researchers of the paranormal (Murray, Aykroyd, and Ramis), faced with a crisis over losing their government grants, reinvent themselves as an on-call pest-control service in New York City. Only, instead of getting rid of rats and bugs, they’re eliminating ghosts. They start off with small jobs—a spirit here, a poltergeist there—but eventually they’re called on to handle a supernatural threat so big it endangers the entire city. In the end they have to defeat one of the strangest (and funniest) monsters ever committed to film.

”Ghostbusters” plays once only on Thursday, April 14, at 9:30 p.m. All seats are $9.00. Moviegoers are strongly advised to buy advance tickets at the box office or online, as the show may sell out. Arriving early is a good idea, in order to choose your seat and also order delicious food and wine or beer.
