Was the electric car killed by an oil- and auto-industry plot? And why is it now poised for a comeback? Explore these questions at this film-based event, and learn how to make your own electric car.

“Who Killed the Electric Car,” which has become a classic, paints a picture of an industry whose aversion to change and reliance on oil may be deeper than its ability to embrace solutions. The film investigates the events leading to the quiet destruction of thousands of new, radically efficient electric vehicles.

11 a.m. Saturday, December 12 at El Cerrito’s historic Art Deco jewel, the Rialto Cinemas Cerrito, 10070 San Pablo Ave., two blocks from El Cerrito Plaza BART. Soft drinks, sandwiches, pizza, salads and more are available!

Special! Starting at 10:30 a.m. and continuing after the film, George Stuckert, Robert MacConnell and Douglas Coleman of the Electric Auto Association will display and discuss the gas guzzlers they converted into electric cars!
