“Charade” (1963) at the Cerrito on Thursday, November 18 at 7:00

Join the adventure with Cary and Audrey in Paris at the Cerrito on Thursday, November 18 at 7:00!

Few thrillers create as much sheer joy and happiness as “Charade,” in which Cary Grant spoofs his Alfred Hitchcock persona, Audrey Hepburn exudes her usual magnetic charm, and Paris is as scenic as ever.

— S. F. Chronicle movie reviewer G. Allen Johnson

The plot has many twists and turns but basically concerns Audrey Hepburn as a newly-widowed woman, whose murdered husband may have stolen a quarter-million dollars, which is now missing. Then, Hepburn is pursued by an array of men, who offer their services to her, but can she trust any of them? The fascinating actors portraying these men include Walter Matthau, James Coburn, and George Kennedy. And of course, Cary Grant, with a particularly slippery identity and chemistry to burn.

It was the only movie to star Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn together.

Director Stanley Donen’s homage to Alfred Hitchcock broke the box office record at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Do yourself a favor–come and enjoy.

“Charade” will play only once at the Cerrito, on Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. Moviegoers are strongly advised to buy advance tickets at the box office or online, as the movie may sell out. “An American Werewolf in London” (1981) at the Cerrito on Wednesday, October 20 at 7:00

Get your fright on and your laughs at “An American Werewolf in London” at the Cerrito on Wednesday, October 20 at 7:00!

Imagine a couple of clean-cut American college boys hiking across the English moor. The scene darkens, day turns into night, and….they are attacked by a werewolf. One, David (played by David Naughton), is maimed but survives. The other, Jack (Griffin Dunne) is killed. David begins to experience visions of hunting on all fours and running wild through the woods. Jack returns from the dead to warn David to commit suicide before the next full moon, or he will become a werewolf himself. Is that scary enough for you?

It’s also funny, especially since the director and writer is John Landis, who also directed “Animal House” and “The Blues Brothers.”

“An American Werewolf in London” won the Oscar for Best Makeup in 1981. The pop music adds to the movie’s satirical horror/comedy appeal.
