Harold Lloyd in “Safety Last” (1923), November 14 at 7pm

Here’s a movie everyone will enjoy!

What is that man doing dangling from the hands of a giant clock atop a tall, tall building?

You’ve seen the image a hundred times—now is your chance to find out the story—and what happens. Believe it or not, “Safety Last” is a love story, as well as a comedy.

Yes, it’s Harold Lloyd, who along with Charley Chaplin and Buster Keaton, was one of the kings of silent comedy. “Safety Last” is celebrating its 90th birthday, and you’re invited. You’ll be riveted as Lloyd, in his trademark straw hat, round glasses, and befuddled look climbs up, up, and up, with an atmospheric piano accompaniment.

You’ll always remember this movie. Don’t miss it!

“Safety Last” shows once only on Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m. All seats are $8.00.

Cerrito Classics are popular: it’s always a good idea to buy your tickets in advance, at the box office or online. Plan to arrive early, to select your seats and to order beer or wine and delicious, freshly-made food.

Don’t forget to check out The Scene, a stylish gathering place to the right of the box office. Special Event: Singletrack High, Nov 9, 10:30AM

A special screening of ‘Singletrack High’ will be held at Rialto Cinemas Cerrito on Saturday, November 9th at 10:30am.

Tickets are $15.

Proceeds from ticket sales go to benefit the EL CERRITO OPEN SPACE FUND  and the EL CERRITO and ALBANY HIGH SCHOOL MOUNTAIN BIKE TEAMS.

This inspiring documentary showcases the extraordinarily positive impacts of the high school cycling movement.

Taking a close look at the National Interscholastic Cycling Association’s (NICA) northern California (NorCal) High School Cycling League, Singletrack High follows a diverse group of high school students through the 2012 mountain bike racing season. The film explores the wide range of positive outcomes from keeping adolescents active on bikes at an age when many are trading in two wheels for four. For hundreds of kids in Northern California, the ride never stops…it gets faster. They come from the mountains, the suburbs, and the city. Some ride carbon fiber race bikes, others old steel clunkers. They ride to win, to finish, and to escape. For six weekends every spring, they don their school colors, roll up to the start line, and fly.
